Further details: https://tinahitchens.wordpress.com/

I have 13 years' experience teaching in schools, privately, and at a Junior Conservatoire (Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama). I teach all abilities, from absolute beginner through to degree level. I have experience of teaching students aged 4 through to adults.

Recorder and fife lessons are particularly good for little hands that aspire to bigger instruments but aren't quite big enough yet! I also have experience of working with adult learners, and am keen to work together to tailor lessons to individual's tastes and aims.

Music theory lessons are available for those either working towards the Grade V examination, or for those who would like to widen their knowledge outside of that. I also provide practical musicianship lessons.

Some students prefer to take exams, and others not. I place much emphasis on general musicianship; including aural skills, music theory, and ensemble work. I teach both the ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall syllabi for those students who would like to undertake Grade examinations.

I have a varied musical background, and have worked with the Welsh National Opera and National Theatre Wales, various smaller groups, and have a keen interest in popular music (having appeared on BBC Radio 1, 3 and 6). I have also participated in a number of improvising groups.

I hope that my diverse musical experience transfers to students' lessons, meaning that students gain a broad musical knowledge. I focus on each individual's strengths and aims, and am keen that my students become well-rounded musicians!

I am available to teach at my home (in the Redland area) or can travel to students' homes for lessons (dependent on distance). Potential students are welcome to come for a free 30 minute trial lesson, to see whether lessons are something they'd like to continue with.

Lessons are £15 per half hour, which is suitable for most learners. Hour lessons are also available for more advanced students, at £30 per hour. Please do contact me with any questions, or if you'd like to arrange a free trial lesson.
