I am an enthusiastic, friendly teacher with 12 years of experience. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to learn music, whether they are young, or wise!

I am passionate about students having a full well-rounded music education and I have designed my own curriculum which forms part of each pupils instrumental lesson. It covers all aspects of aural, theory and general musicianship including World Music, Jazz and the different periods of Western Classical music.

For young children, aged 5-8, I have the option for learning the recorder, a specially designed flute or a specially designed reed instrument (easily transferrable to either clarinet or saxophone), which are ideal for small hands and lungs before they are ready to take on a full sized instrument (for a full price list please see my website).

I am very happy to teach students who both do and do not wish to take exams. I believe that exams are an excellent way to measure your progress and learn to manage the pressure of performing, however they are not for everyone and not always necessary so I strive to be flexible with my approach to lessons to enable students to have as many options open as possible. I am also very proud of my 100% pass rate (32% pass, 45% merit, 23% distinction as of July 2020).

I also actively encourage students to join their school/the county orchestras and bands as the best way to grow as a musician is to perform with others.

I teach privately from my home in Hucclecote, Gloucestershire. There is plenty of parking and parents are most welcome to wait inside during the lesson.

I am a member of the Musicians Union and work to an MU approved contract. I also have a full Enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) certificate.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
