Marijke is a passionate, experienced, and dedicated teacher of viola, violin, and music theory. She is a current Music Tutor Fellow at King Solomon Academy in London and a graduate of the Royal College of Music, gaining her Master's in Viola Performance in 2016. In addition, she completed her undergraduate studies at King's College London, graduating with a Bachelor's of Music in 2014.

She has taught individual lessons since 2007 and also gained experience in group setting teaching during the summers of 2012 and 2013 at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in the United States. Her teaching at Blue Lake also allowed her to gain valuable skills in pastoral care, making her a well-rounded and caring teacher who is receptive to students' music and emotional needs.

Marijke has particular experience with the Suzuki curriculums and is also experienced in the ABRSM curriculum.

Marijke is a teacher for all levels and ages of musicians. For more experienced students interested in progressing quickly she makes sure they feel challenged and supported; however, for those looking for a more relaxed approach, she is equally open to creating an environment where they can progress at their own pace, while not feeling bored of the material. She is particularly interested in making sure that students feel confident to practice by themselves, regardless of level, so time between lessons does not feel hopeless or wasted.

As a musicologist she also likes to make sure students have a full understanding of their music, through playing, theory and history to give them a well-rounded approach to what they are working on! Listening to recordings and understanding context helps students feel interested and inspired.
