Mr Ben Parker

I am an avid teacher with experience teaching music composition, piano, and all areas of musicianship and theory, to students of all abilities in primary schools, high schools, independent music services, and some of the UK's top specialist music academies. I am also the lead music practitioner and co-director of PROJECT//FUSION: a collaborative art scheme that offers the chance for young musical minds to collaborate with young people from other artistic disciplines. Earlier this year I was awarded the Leverhulme Music Mentorship Award in recognition of my contribution to music education.

I recently graduated as an Arnold Cooke Scholar at the Royal Northern College of Music with a first class honours degree in composition. My music has won multiple awards, been performed and workshopped by some of the UK's leading contemporary music ensembles, performed at a variety of music festivals across England, and broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

I'm currently taking some time out of education to take up some more teaching opportunities and compose free-lance before embarking upon post-graduate research.

Through my teaching experience, and having grown up with musical tastes outside of a 'classical' domain, I realise how important it is to enjoy the subject you're studying! I always cater my teaching to work alongside an individual's musical interests, whilst fulfilling their requirements and aiming towards their long-term goals. Whether you are new to music, needing extra tuition for a music qualification, or wanting to study music composition or piano, please do not hesitate to be in contact with any queries and/or to discuss your requirements. I look forward to hearing from you!
