Biography

Born in Derbyshire in 1991, Samantha began playing the Tenor Horn at the age of 7 and had a rigorous musical up-bringing in the brass band tradition of the north of England. She was given the opportunity to play the French Horn at the age of 14 and since then her achievements have been numerous. She was accepted with a scholarship to the junior school of the Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Tom Redmond. In 2009, Samantha was accepted to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on the BMus Honours Degree in French Horn performance. She is under the direction of David Flack - BBC SSO, Hugh Potts - former BBC SSO, Stephanie Jones - BBC SSO and John Logan- RSNO.

Samantha has performed with a variety of ensembles including the symphony, chamber, wind and opera orchestras and Conservatoire Brass. In 2012 she won places on both coveted orchestral apprenticeship schemes in cooperation with the Conservatoire, one with the RSNO and the otherwith BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. With the BBC SSO this included playing on a live broadcast of Sporting Nation. She has also taken part in master classes with Fergus McWilliams, Radovan Vlatkovic, Jasper de Waal and Saar Berger.

Samantha has a wealth of teaching experience and has recently accepted a place on the prestigious Masters course in French Horn Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
