Greg has a Salvation Army background and started playing the cornet seriously at 17 years old. At 22 he graduated from The University of Sheffield with a Bachelor of Music degree, which focused on the history of music, cornet/trumpet performance, conducting, and composition. Greg was tutored by Mark Heron at the Royal Northern College of Music in preparation for his final conducting recital.

During 2017 Greg began a career in the British Army. Upon completion of basic training, Greg was sent to the Royal Military School of Music. In his 5 months at RMSM he was tutored on trumpet/cornet by Andy Mitchell (English National Ballet Philharmonic) and accompanied by Berendina Norton.

In 2018 Greg was posted to the Band of the Coldstream Guards and now performs ceremonial duties in Central London and Windsor.

Greg still attends the Salvation Army at Regent Hall, Oxford Circus, and is currently the deputy bandmaster.

The highlight of his career thus far was performing in front of Her Majesty the Queen at the Trooping of the Colour parade in June 2019.
