Notes:

Lucy started the cello at the age of 5, following the Suzuki method. At 6, she became one of the first students to be accepted onto the RSAMD (now RCS) Pre-Juniors programme, and became a Junior at 9. Following a family move to Aberdeenshire, Lucy continued her studies at the North East of Scotland Music School with James Halsey until she was 17. Lucy moved to the Music School of Douglas Academy in Glasgow for her final year at school, studying with Rudi de Groote. She was offered to scholarships to study at the RCS and the Birmingham Conservatoire, but now an undergraduate at the RNCM, she is lucky enough to study with Nicholas Trygstad.

As a soloist, Lucy won the Aberdeen Young Musician of the Year 2013, and the North East of Scotland Music Festival Strings Category, also 2013, and was lucky enough to perform the Elgar Cello Concerto with the Aberdeen Youth Symphony Orchestra at the Music Hall, Aberdeen, in March 2014. She made her orchestral debute at the age of 7 as a soloist with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and since then has performed with the likes of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland and the Aberdeen Sinfonietta.

Lucy's playing experience includes work as a soloist, and in duos, trios, quartets, quintets, various assorted chamber groups and chamber and symphony orchestras, as well as as a pit musician in a variety of musicals and operas. She is a member of the Amaryllis Duo.

Lucy has been teaching both the cello and the double bass for many years. Her students have ranged from the ages of 6 up to 76, and from complete beginner up to ABRSM diploma standard on the cello, and to grade 5 on the double bass. She has often been praised for her fun and relaxed but firm teaching style. Lucy has worked extensively with students with special educational needs, as well as teaching in groups of up to 4 students at a time.
