Mrs Keira Willis (Stamford Piano Lessons)

BA (Hons)
PGCE (Cantab)
MEd (Cantab)
Instruments: Piano
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

I have worked as an English teacher in an Independent Secondary School in central Cambridge and also recently graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Masters of Education. I have been playing the piano since the age of ten, and gained my ABRSM Grade 8 qualification at the age of thirteen.

I trained as a private pupil of Nigel Pitceathly, a former Head of Keyboard Studies at Chetham's School of Music, Manchester, for almost ten years, with a focus on the Russian-style of teaching to develop strength and clarity in performance.

All students will learn on a professional-level Yamaha U3 in Stamford, just off Tinwell Road. Students will follow the ABRSM syllabus when they have reached the appropriate level of technique and understanding. Students will develop a wide-ranging repertoire, with pieces specifically chosen to complement a student’s individual tastes, but also to stretch technique and musical knowledge. Students of all levels will be entered for examination, and into local musical festivals or competitions where appropriate, and if desired.

Lessons for beginners and intermediate-level students are normally thirty-minutes on a weekly basis. Longer lessons can be accommodated, and advanced–level students would be expected to take an hourly session each week.

Lessons are available for students of any ability. Lessons will take place during the day for younger students and during early evenings throughout the week.
