I like to create a friendly environment, where my pupils benefit from wanting to be at the lessons and enjoying their content. I find that students progress much more rapidly when they are having fun.

My approach is to teach not just the technicalities of the instrument, but an understanding of the music. Therefore my lessons do comprise of some rhythm work, some movement and occasionally some singing! But I make sure that the student feels comfortable at all times, and I am flexible in my approach - what works for one student won't necessarily work for another.

I have been working teaching in primary schools for the past 3 years. Before that, I worked as a peripatetic instrumental teacher in South Shropshire for 2 years.

I worked at the Junior Department of the RWCMD for the 4 years I was studying there. I taught for Da Capo Music Foundation 2010-2011, with pupils ranging in age from 2 years up to 56! I have experience teaching saxophone, piano, flute, clarinet and 'cello.

I am happy to teach pupils wanting to sit exams, or just learning for fun.

As well as regular theory lessons, I can do an intensive course of music theory lessons for pupils needing to sit their grade 5 Music Theory.

I graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (principal study saxophone) in July 2010. I passed my ABRSM Teaching Diploma in June 2010. I spent a year studying with Kyle Horch (saxophone) at the Royal College of Music in London, where I was invited to a reception for young people in the performing arts at Buckingham Palace and was presented to HRH, the Queen. I gained my PGCE in Primary School Teaching with the Institute of Education and University College London in 2014.

I am fully DBS checked.

I starting teaching private pupils 11 years ago, and still love teaching.
