Biography

I have experience with one-to-one teaching of private students in both singing and piano, as well as group sessions with adults and children.

As a singing teacher I aim to help students explore the full range of their voices with confidence, feeling that the voice is reliable and trustworthy. At the core of my teaching is a focus on accurate learning of music and very clear, richly-coloured interpretation of text.

My singing experience is broad, including operatic roles such as La Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro and Micaela in Carmen. I have also sung in numerous opera choruses, and perform regularly with the Philharmonia Chorus in London and abroad. I sang in the National Youth Choir for many years and was an undergraduate choral scholar at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge. I co-founded an opera company, Gothic Opera, in 2019, which puts on spooky and gothic-inspired operas. I bring my experience as a diverse performer to bear on my teaching of differing students, who have a range of interests, experiences and reasons for seeking music lessons.
