Instruments: Currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music, Edward teaches Piano, Organ and Music Theory Although based in Hampstead, Edward is happy to travel. He has studied with many of the great English organists of the 21st century including Colin Walsh, Martin Baker and Clive Driskill-Smith. During his Gap year he held the highly prestigious organ scholarship at Canterbury Cathedral.
He is happy to teach people of all ages and abilities and is quick to adapt to the needs of each student.

London based pianist and organist Edward Hewes began his musical education as a Chorister at Lincoln Cathedral, under the tutelage of Colin Walsh and Charles Harrison. He is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music.
Edward was Organ Scholar at Canterbury Cathedral where he was responsible for playing many of the cathedral’s services, training choristers and occasionally directing the world famous Cathedral Choir.
During sixth form, he was a music scholar at Lincoln Minster School. During this time he regularly accompanied the Minster School Choir, and played for services in the Cathedral, accompanying the Cathedral Choir. In addition to this, Edward played the organ for the second performance of Howard Goodall’s Oratorio “Every Purpose under the Heaven” under the direction of the composer
In 2013, Edward was appointed Director of Music at St Silas the Martyr, Kentish Town, where he went on to start a flourishing choral tradition and the creation of a choral scholarship scheme.

Edward has featured in many prestigious organ recital series’ including the Grand Organ Festival at both Canterbury and Lincoln Cathedrals, and has also performed as a soloist at Weingarten Basilica (Germany), Domkirche (Stuttgart), Liebrauenkirche (Ravensburg), Portsmouth and Brentwood Cathedrals, and most recently at the Royal Festival Hall (London). He currently studies organ with Charles Harrison and Colin Walsh and also studies choral conducting with Patrick Russil.
Edward is an avid improviser on both the piano (jazz) and organ.
