Hello, my name is Caroline. I have worked as a professional musician for over 20 years. I studied flute and piano at the London College of Music, I then worked as a private and peripatetic teacher in Middlesex and Surrey before embarking on a career in the Army as Principal Flautist of HM Band of the Welsh Guards. I am currently vocalist with the REME Band based in Catterick. During my career I have performed all over the UK and Europe, Canada, North Africa and the Middle East. Notable venues and occasions include, the Royal Albert Hall, Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Olympic Games London 2012, the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton and Barack Obama's Presidential visit to Westminster.

During this time I have continued teaching, with an emphasis on providing a solid foundation of musical knowledge and technique to enable the student to access all genres of music. I use differing teaching strategies dependent on the student and how they learn best. Whilst at Sunderland University I spent some time at Oxclose Community Academy, Tyne and Wear, where I worked with year 7 & 8 students in creating music in an unconventional way, to break down any preconceived barrier of access to music performance. I completed my dissertation on the effect of sound and music on our emotions and thought processes, and this has since led me to study sound as a therapy, with a particular interest in sound on the brain, wellbeing, focus and the results this produces for children with Autism and ADHD, and adults with Mental Health challenges.

I believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy music at whatever age or ability, and it should be fun to learn, whatever your aspirations may be.

"There is music in every child. The teacher's job is to find it and nurture it." - Frances Clark
