I started as a Principle Percussionist with the Northamptonshire County Music School. Since then I have played with rock bands, jazz bands, big bands, the university orchestras of London and Oxford and various other city symphony orchestras (including Plymouth). I have also played for the Championship winning brass band GUS, performing at the Royal Albert Hall and across the UK and Europe. I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Oxford University, PGCE (Oxon) and I have lots of experience working with students of all ages. I passed Grade 8 Drums with distinction, before going on to pass the Rockschool Performance Diploma with distinction. (DipRSL.perf). I now teach and perform in Plymouth where I live with my wife and two children.
I provide individual tuition for beginners and more experienced players. I use a carefully structured method to allow students to gain confidence and ability across all styles of music as well as providing an uncomplicated explanation of music notation and counting systems.
Some students just learn for fun, but many structure their learning by taking rockschool grade examinations where pieces are performed to a backing track.
