Keeping Children Safe in Music is the latest in the EduCare's series of distance learning courses on child protection. The training programme uses short films to show a variety of good and bad practice examples, which will be available to watch online. It will help anyone teaching music to children gain a better understanding of their child protection responsibilities, and avoid situations that could lead to accusations of misconduct.

I am passionate about music and greatly enjoy sharing my knowledge with my students, whether they are children or adults. Teaching music has always been rewarding for me, and my enthusiasm has not faded despite having taught music for many years now.

I am a fully qualified graduate tutor and an ISM registered teacher with more than 25 years of experience. I am in my early forties, and have been teaching piano since passing my grade 8 piano at the age of 16. I then went on to do music A level, a music degree for which I achieved honours, NSPCC child protection training, and have achieved fellowship status in The Incorporated Society of Musicians. I have also worked as an accompanist for ABRSM graded exams.

ISM registered.

I offer tuition from home, daytime and evening sessions are available. Adults as well as children are welcome. Twenty minute sessions are recommended for young children. For everyone else, half an hour or forty minutes is the standard length of lesson.

I have a lot of experience with teaching online as well as in person, and know how to adapt in order to make the lessons just as productive and enjoyable. Since the Covid-19 crisis I have moved all my in-person lessons online, e.g. via Skype and FaceTime video call, and will continue to teach exclusively online for the duration of the crisis. I offer many different options for online lessons, please see my website for more information to find out which option suits you best:

I prepare students for all grades of ABRSM exams, as well as any other exam board, and I have an excellent record of exam results. I also teach people who just want to learn for personal interest.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a complete beginner, or need guidance with advanced music theory or advanced piano, I can help.
