I am comfortable teaching students of all ages and levels from absolute beginner to professional. Learning is not just about reading text books and playing exercises. It must be fun and rewarding as well. I feel strongly that a good fit with one's teacher is important which is why I tailor lessons to each student individually based on one’s age, experience, musical goals and personality. A strong emphasis is always put on technical development but an equal importance is placed on playing musically and working within an band. Even with beginner students I try to get them thinking about what the song needs and listening to their fellow musicians. This helps them to understand the dynamics of playing in a band quickly to get students playing their own music and having fun!

Everyone is different and every student has a different way of learning. It is therefore important to put the student first when considering the best curriculum.

I can work from graded syllabuses such as Rockschool or Guildhall Trinity however it is by no means essential. Becoming an accomplished musician does not necessarily require doing exams!

For beginners, lessons generally are 30 min, once a week. 30 min allows the most efficient use of lesson time without overwhelming a beginner student with too much information and homework!

60 min lessons are also available for intermediate and advanced students or beginners who are making good progress and feel they need the increased instruction.

If you are interested but not sure drumming is for you, I suggest trying four lessons as usually it takes more than one lesson to see if an instrument is the right fit for someone. If you are not sure and would like to discuss, or if you have any specific questions about lessons and what to expect, feel free to call me or use the contact form to send me an email and I will respond promptly.

Lessons cost £15 for 30 min or £30 for an hour and are usually paid on a monthly basis.

I offer a 10% discount for students that book and prepay for 10 or more lessons.
