Mrs Aza Zeynalova

Aza Zeynalova comes from a rich heritage of music. Her father was a distinguished composer. Following in his footsteps, Aza, at the age of six, was accepted by the Special Music School for Gifted Children in Baku, Azerbaijan, where, for eleven years she was taught piano by exceptionally experienced and talented teacher E. Mamedova. Aza also studied musical subjects like solfeggio, music theory, harmony and the history of music. After 11 years she graduated from the school with outstanding grades and have been accepted to the National Conservatory (now known as the Academy) where she had the honour of being a student of the renowned international pianist and composer, Prof. E. Nazirova, who had herself studied composition with Shostakovich and piano with Professor Zak, a former pupil of Henry Neuhaus, at the Moscow Conservatory.
For the next 5 years at the Conservatory Aza gave concert performances with a wide range of repertoire, perfecting her piano skills and deepening her knowledge of musical history, harmony, music analysis and theory. When Aza graduated she had attained a First Class Degree, not only as a Concert Pianist but also as a Piano Teacher.
Since then Aza has been teaching at Colleges, Schools and in private practice for almost 30 years to all levels and all ages. She has also performed at concerts as a soloist and as an accompanist.
A number of her students have successfully entered musical colleges and conservatories including the Royal Academy and many have become piano teachers themselves. Many also attained Trinity and ABRSM Diplomas. However, Aza considers that her main achievement is the fact that all her students turned into passionate music lovers and motivated piano learners.
