Notes:
Hello, thank you for your interest in singing lessons!
I am an experienced and versatile soprano with classical training. I mainly teach classical technique for singing as I believe that this gives a fantastic basis for singing any styles. However, I am also the lead singer in a heavy rock band and I am a backing vocalist in a Pink Floyd tribute band, so I have a lot of experience of singing many different styles!
I started in musical theatre as a child and began singing operatically once I started lessons, aged 14. At the age of 16 I played the role of 'Lucy' in Menotti's operetta 'The Telephone'. I played numerous roles in musical theatre productions during my school and university years and also once I moved to settle in Reading. I then joined Reading Phoenix Choir and enjoyed 8 years singing to a very high level with this excellent choir. It was during my time with Phoenix that I began singing solos again and returned to regular singing lessons. Since then, I have taken my grades 7 and 8, achieved my licentiate Diploma from Trinity College London and increased my repertoire and experience as a soprano soloist.
I have twice won the Borough of Basingstoke Cup for the adult with the most honours in the Basingstoke Music Festival and I have won the Norman Morris recital Trophy from Woodley Festival of Music and Arts on two occasions.
I have recently changed career (partly due to starting a family) and am really enjoying singing and teaching professionally. I work for The Rock Project as a vocal tutor and I am available as a wedding and event singer. I am excited to be able to teach a wide variety of people to learn to sing and improve their technique in all genres and I am already so happy to see (and hear) my current students improving!
I would be happy to assist anyone wishing to enter exams with either ABRSM or Trinity, both classical and rock syllabus.
I teach from my home in Bramley but I am also able to travel to you or another suitable location when necessary.
I have an enhanced DBS certificate and public liability insurance.
Check out my website for more information and thanks for reading!
