Hello!
My name is József and I am an experienced music teacher based in and around Hampshire and West Sussex.

Originally from Hungary, I started music education at the age of 6 in Budapest, initally exploring Kodaly method music theory and Piano. I started studying cello with the formidable musician Anita Fekete just a year later, discovering my love and talent for the instrument.

After fulfilling a foundational knowledge of music at the Budapest youth music school, I moved to England to continue my music studies, eventually going on to complete a degree in Music with First Class Honours.

I am now highly accomplished performer, and have had the pleasure to play with many orchestras including the Budapest 13 Chamber Orchestra, West Sussex Youth Orchestra, Andrew Bernardi String orchestra, Southampton University Symphony Orchestra and Sinfonietta, as well as the Arundel Sinfonia and Southampton Concert Orchestra. Over the years some memorable performances I have been involved in include Mahler 6, Sibelius 2, Nielson 4,Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, Vaughan Williams 5 and Beethoven Symphonies 6,7 and 8.

I began conducting in the second year of my music degree at the age of 19 under Robin Browning, and quickly attained the role of Assistant Conductor of the University's Chamber Orchestra, the Southampton University Sinfonietta. My love of conducting and wish to one day become an accomplished orchestral director is inspired by the excellent musicians I have studied with; including Frank Zielhorst and Jonathan Lo.

Since completing my degree, I have pursued a career with West Sussex Music Service as a resident Cello teacher, and as an ensembles leader with Worthing and Horsham music centres. It is a role I love greatly, and after changing bases from West Sussex to Hampshire, I am now loooking to extend my teaching to private lessons alongside this.

I currently offer lessons in cello performance amongst other instruments, in music theory, and coaching in conducting and ensemble performance. I have experience teaching from age 5 to college level and am happy to take on students of any age.

Whether you, or your child, wants to pick up an instrument or build upon existing knowledge, I would love to hear from you!
