I am a prize-winning and regularly commissioned composer. My pieces have been performed at the Southbank Centre (Purcell Room), National Concert Hall of Ireland and Wells Cathedral by performers of international renown.

My tutees describe me as patient, empathetic and principled. I welcome both beginners and those with more experience. As I am freelance I can travel to you, or else am happy to host.

Testimonial below from former composition student:

'Kate is one of very few people I know who has had the patience to sit with me for hours transcribing my pieces as I dictated them, without which, as a blind composer, I could not have continued to write. She has also massively helped me improve my sense of harmony and deepen my knowledge of writing for various instruments, including the the preparation of pianos, the use of the bow on the vibraphone and how to write for harp. I have been greatly inspired by Kate and her music; I am now hoping for a career in composition, which I would never have had the confidence to consider without her clear but not exaggerated passion, invaluable encouragement and expert advice.'
