Mr Luke De La Salle

Luke De La Salle started drum lessons at the age of seven with the former ‘Counterfeit Stones’ drummer Geoff Cooper. Early training was in the rock idiom however as Luke developed he adapted his style to incorporate many different styles and skills. Luke completed a BA (Hons) in Jazz at Leeds College of Music where he graduated with a first class degree honours receiving the Ernest H Morris award for Community Music in the process.

Luke moved from LCM to Leeds University to complete a PGCE in primary education where he is currently working as Head of Music across a 4 school academy. With responsibility for both teaching and leading of music, Luke designed a curriculum with appropriate plans and resources for all levels. The Curriculum draws upon all aspects of music and aims to garner a creative love of music in children that will also influence their academic improvement across all subject areas.

Currently, Luke is involved in two musical projects: ‘Soul Definition’ (Motown era covers) and ‘The Catherine Lima Quartet’ (jazz singer) as well as working in a number of different jazz combination bands.
