If you are looking for a patient, encouraging teacher who will help you develop a good sound and enjoy your music whatever level you are at then look no further.

I have 17 years music teaching experience which includes 10 years experience with Buckinghamshire Music service teaching flute, clarinet, recorder and saxophone, recorder ensembles and recorder scholars.

I am currently teaching private instrumental music lessons in Schools in Devon and Somerset and at home, evenings and daytimes available.

Also, I offer Wider Opportunities Music projects to schools and Ukulele Workshops (ukuleles supplied).

RECORDERS: My 1st instrument: I teach all sizes of recorder including bass recorder. I teach treble and descant to diploma level and love recorder as both a professional Baroque and Modern instrument and as a versatile folk instrument.

FLUTE: My 3rd instrument: Luckily, the many similarities between flute and recorder make me very able to teach this instrument right through to grade 8. If you have been told you are unsuitable for the flute I will be happy to take you on because where there is a will there is definitely a way.

CLARINET: My 2nd instrument: I can teach through to grade 8 on B flat clarinet.

SAXOPHONE: My 4th instrument: Due to the saxophone and clarinet having very similar mouthpieces and sharing a lot of technique I can also teach saxophone though to grade 8. Eb alto and Bb soprano only. Sorry no tenor or baritone.

UKULELE: My 5th instrument: I just absolutely love the ukulele. I'm not much help at teaching pop songs because I don't know many. I can of course teach all the chord shapes and strumming patterns needed for you to work out the songs yourself but really I feel that FINGERSTYLE playing is the way to go and teach that and CLAWHAMMER style up to what would be about a grade 5 level.

VIOLIN: My 6th instrument: I can teach the violin to about grade 3 with correct basic technique but only in instances where a more experienced teacher is not available. I would rather someone can get started than miss out altogether because there is no teacher available.

MANDOLIN: My 7th instrument: If your goal is to learn to read music and play simple folk tunes I can help you here. If you don't have a mandolin or it hurts your fingers we can restring a £50 ukulele (the minimum price for one that is in tune enough and has a bowl back for projection-Alic) with GDAE strings and call it a MANDOLELE and learn on that. Like violin it would be basic tuition just to get you started.
