Hello! My name is Amy and I am a Mezzo Soprano currently studying on the Advanced Certificate in Opera Studies course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. In August 2020 I completed my Master of Arts in vocal performance at the Royal Academy of Music. Before beginning my studies at RAM, I was the Head of Music at a secondary school in North Yorkshire for two years. I have taught individual singing lessons for four years in three different schools with children and young adults of all ages. I have experience of preparing pupils for ABRSM/Trinity Music exams, GCSE and A Level music exams. During my time teaching,I ran a number of choirs and singing workshops with people of all ages. If asked to describe my teaching, I would say my main aim is to help my pupils produce a free, relaxed and healthy sound. With this, I also help my pupils build their confidence, musicality and music theory skills. I have experience of working with classical, musical theatre and pop repertoire but always encourage my pupils to have a mix of styles to ensure an all round solid technique... whilst having lots of fun with pupils of any age/experience!
