Biography

Amy is a mezzo-soprano born in South Cumbria. She is currently studying for a Master of Arts in Vocal Performance at the Royal Academy of Music under the tutelage of Caitlin Hulcup and Yvonne Howard.

She has performed as a soloist for many societies and groups in the North of England including the choral societies of Preston, Fleetwood, Ambleside, Bolton, Salford, Sedbergh and Arnside. The varied repertoire has included Elgarís The Music Makers, Handelís Messiah, Mendelssohnís Elijah, Mozartís Requiem, Durufle's Requiem and Rossini's Petite Messe.

Amy has been a finalist of the David Clover Festival for the past two years and was awarded the Andrew Colt French Song prize in January 2017. In the 2018 competition Amy won the Lesley Garrett Opera Prize and the Gold Award for British Song.

Amy became a member of the Manchester Opera Ensemble in Autumn 2016 and performed in their December production of Pucciniís Suor Angelica at Manchester Central Library in support of the Womenís Equality party.

In addition to solo work, Amy is an experienced choral singer and has been a member of the University of Manchester Chamber Choir, Ad Solem, and Manchester based ensembles Melodico and Kantos Chamber Choir.

Before starting her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in September 2018, Amy was the Head of Music at Settle College in North Yorkshire for two years. She graduated from the University of Manchester in 2014 with an honors degree in Music, under the tutelage of John Powell.
