Child Protection Course:
Completed Educare child protection training course. (more)
Keeping Children Safe in Music is the latest in the EduCare's series of distance learning courses on child protection. The training programme uses short films to show a variety of good and bad practice examples, which will be available to watch online. It will help anyone teaching music to children gain a better understanding of their child protection responsibilities, and avoid situations that could lead to accusations of misconduct.

I am passionate about teaching, about sharing my love of music with others and guiding them in their learning process. I believe in pupil-centred learning and thus adapt my teaching to the individual needs of the pupil, whether child or adult.

I have taught pupils who have gained places in area, county or national music groups. I have also coached many children for scholarships, some of whom have gone on to specialist music schools. My older students often go on to study music, or to use music in their everyday lives as amateurs.

I am keen to encourage adults to have a go on an instrument, either from scratch or as a 'returner'. My oldest pupil is 88 and we have great fun working together. Again, many join local groups and enjoy making music with others.

As a music psychologist, I have a particular interest in working with dyslexic students or students who find learning a challenge.

I offer consultation lessons, an "introduction to the woodwind family" session, short term and holiday coaching as well as regular teaching sessions. Please contact me for details of fees.

I am a Fellow of the Incorporated Society of Musicians, a Member of the British Psychological Society and a Member of the Royal Society of Musicians.
