Mr Phin Hall
Karen Date: April 2016
At the age of 50 I decided to fulfil a long held ambition to learn the piano. I enjoy singing but that was about it, play no musical instrument, unable to read music so was going from a place of nil, nothing. I did not want the pressure of exams just to be able to sing and play for my own pleasure. Phin has been an excellent teacher for a not too bright adult student, lessons tailored to meet my needs, achievable goals, I feel that I have learnt a lot, and am thrilled by any tunes I can successfully play. I enjoy my lessons, can relax and be myself so Phin has to put up with the moans and groans when I crash (it goes wrong) and the jubilation when I feel that I have improved or achieved something new. I still have a lot to learn and a long way to go but providing I put the time in I continue to make slow steady progress. Practice for me is a pleasure, playing the piano is a stress reliever as it takes all my concentration and a time that I really look forward to. If you are thinking of learning the piano, all I can say if I can do it you can too, but it is important that you have a good teacher, and Phin has always gone the extra mile to ensure that I have the best possible chance of learning this amazing instrument.
