I am a self-taught singer-songwriter living in Sherwood with my partner and two children - both at school. I teach in schools - Robert Mellors Primary Academy in Arnold and Hollygirt School near the City centre, from home, and also provide on-line lessons. I am fully DBS checked. I have also run singing workshops in prisons and day-centres for the Workers Educational Association.

I use grades as a tool - mainly Music Medals through the ABRSM and Rockschool grades but feel it is more important to foster a natural sense of musical confidence and curiosity. Every year my students have the option of performing at a packed out concert at the Running Horse - a well known venue and musicians home-from-home. At the last concert many of my students played in groups with a professional backing band providing the bass and drums. My students love these concerts and they've become a real inspiration and focus.

As a writer I co-write library music for TV and radio with Kinema Audio in Sherwood - recent successes have included use of my music in Homes Under the Hammer, the Chelsea Flower Show, and Countryfile. I've also been releasing music under my own name, as Torn Sail and before that as Earth The Californian Love Dream. My music is a labour of love but along the way I've played concerts all over the UK and occasionally in the USA, received frequent airplay on BBC6 Music and had my music played, remixed, released on several different labels. Most importantly I've had an inspired journey with music and musicians for over thirty years.
