Pupils can choose to follow a traditonal route with early Grades, (Prep tests, Music Medals, Grades 1 to 3), if they wish. My track record there is that any pupil I enter for grades always passes! Most get distinctions or merits. The reason for this is that I do not 'push' young pupils into these things, but approach the pupil's parent/carer with the option when I feel this would be a good route for the pupil and that he/she is ready.

However, exams are not my main focus. I tend to focus more on offering a rounded musical experience, building up enjoyment and confidence at the pupil's own pace. Of course, regular practice is essential for the pupil's musical development, but so is self-expression and creativity.

Here are some comments I've received from schools and pupils:

"A big thank you to Ms Beevis for her hard work this year. You make each lesson entertaining and ensure great progress is made. The children are inspired to play their instruments and have clearly enjoyed their time with you each week." King's Hill School.

"Dear Miss Beevis, Thank you for the wonderful guitar lessons. I enjoyed every single one of them so much." From Sammy, St Augustine's Primary School.

"Dear Miss Beevis, Thank you so much for teaching me how to play guitar for five years. Thank you for making me the guitar player I am." Jessica.
