I studied viola at the Royal Academy of Music and am currently a part-time violin and viola specialist at Stringers in London where I have gained a deep understanding of string instruments and the needs of young string players. While studying, I benefited from amazing teaching and the motivating environment of the Bromley Youth Music Trust and the National Youth Orchestra and I continue to follow with interest the activities of youth music organisations which foster teamwork and creativity.

I love to play, and continue to perform alongside my teaching commitments. I particularly enjoy my long-term membership of a six-piece "strock" band, with whom I recently recorded and performed at Abbey Road Studios. This work has led me to the belief that it is incredibly important to instill a sense of fun and freedom in my pupils. With this in mind, I recently completed a course on musical improvisation with Nordoff Robbins.

I have observed and studied many different styles and methods of teaching, keeping in mind that the needs of each individual are different. My approach draws on the ideas of Colourstrings, Kodaly, Suzuki and Sheila Nelson. I thoroughly enjoy teaching students of all levels and ages and I love to bring creativity, flexibility and imagination to my lessons in order to inspire my pupils with a true love of music and of their instrument.
