Bachelor of Music (Hons) with Year Abroad (2:1), Newcastle University

ATCL Flute Diploma (Distinction), Trinity College London
Instruments: Flute
Genre/Style(s): Classical
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

Musical Background: I began studying flute and piano aged 9, and before commencing my studies at Newcastle University obtained my ATCL Flute Diploma with Distinction under the tuition of Sheena Gordon of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In 2015 I graduated from Newcastle University where I specialised in and gained a first class honours mark in flute peformance. During this time I studied with some of the country's best flautists, including Clare Robson and Eilidh Gillespie of Northern Sinfonia. I also spent a year in Italy at the Conservatorio "Arrigo Boito" di Parma where I studied flute with International Soloist Claudio Ferrarini, and second study piano with Barbera Rincicotti. Although I am primarily classically trained, I have experience performing in a diverse range of styles, and past performances have included playing a group improvisation for the Dalai Lama in Edinburgh's Usher Hall, playing James MacMillan's Veni Veni Emmanuel with Edinburgh Youth Orchestra and Evelyn Glennie and solo performances in the King's Hall.

Teaching Approach: I like to focus on the student's personal goals whilst maintaining constant progression and learning. Obviously enjoyment is paramount and I like to encourage pupils to get as involved in music making as possible!

I teach from home but am willing to travel if travel expenses are covered.
