*Unfortunately my teaching schedule is currently full (April 2018). I will update my profile when I have openings. Thank you!*

I have been playing the violin and Scottish fiddle in the United States and Scotland for 17 years, during which time I have been taught by many tutors in both classical and folk styles. I have played in several professional and nonprofessional classical orchestras and traditional music bands, and continue to play in the Edinburgh area.

I am currently studying for my Masters degree in Scottish Ethnology at the University of Edinburgh focusing on traditional music. I travel to many traditional sessions and love to share tunes!

I have taught students in both classical and folk music for several years. I also have extensive experience teaching children as a sailing instructor, where I learned to instruct and communicate complex ideas in an engaging and fun way; these skills help me to make learning the violin a fun experience for all of my pupils, of all ages and abilities!

I am here to teach and help my students with whatever they want to learn, be it how to start out on the instrument, traditional tunes and technique, or the next ABRSM grade (or all of the above!). I provide generous encouragement and enthusiasm, as I believe this to be very important. I highly encourage practice, setting challenging yet attainable goals for each lesson based on the student's own goals and situation. I love playing the violin, and so do everything I can to ensure my students will love it just as much!
