Notes:

Hello, my name is João and I'm from Portugal. I began my musical studies by learning alto saxophone back when I was 12 years old. Since then I've experimented with various other instruments such as Piano, Guitar and Recorder and feel very comfortable teaching all of them.

I've been teaching for the last 6 years. I always try to tailor my lessons around the students, both their personality and musical taste, and I think that's a very important factor whether I'm teaching young children, teenagers, or adults.

My academic qualifications (BA in Music Education/M.Ed in Music Teaching) gave me a deeper insight and knowledge about pedagogy and teaching strategies. My opinion is that you can't force someone into enjoying playing music. Students have to discover it themselves and my role is to provide a context and environment where that is possible.

Besides the standard music practice, I often listen to music with my students, improvise and talk about the mechanics and theory of the music language.

You can expect a devoted teacher from me.
