Biography

In 2009 Francesca was awarded a First Class Honours degree in music performance from the Birmingham Conservatoire where she studied with Annabel Knight and Ross Winters. Whilst studying for her undergraduate she performed in a variety of music groups including consort Pleon, conservatoire folk ensemble and baroque capelle orchestra playing works such as Matthew Lockeís Pyshe and Brandenburg Concerto No.4. She also performed in the New Guide to Opera by Michael Wolters with Julien Lloyd Webber live on the BBC world news. In her third year she was awarded a place to study at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Brussels as part of Erasmus Exchange. Here she studied with Bart Coen and Peter de Clercq.

After her undergraduate degree Francesca continued her studies at Birmingham Conservatoire gaining a Masters with Distinction in 2010. During this year Francesca experimented with the recorder and live electronics, which has become a found love for hers. During this year she worked with and performed to Louis Andriessen as part of the Frontierís Plus Andriessen week. She also continued to teach for Birmingham Music service and was appointed tutor for Birmingham Schools Recorder Sinfonia where she worked with Alan Davis.

Francesca has received a number of prizes including the Birmingham Conservatoire recorder prize, the Rollason music award and was also a finalist in the ERTA Consort Competition.

Since September 2010 Francesca is continuing her studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under Jorge Isaac and Erik Bosgraaf. Here she is continuing to experiment with electronics and improvisation and continues to expand her knowledge of all aspects of recorder repertory.
