Biography

Hi I'm Laura and I first started playing the cello aged 7. Previously I attended the Royal College of Music Junior Department taught by Michal Kaznowski and then received a scholarship to study for my bachelor degree at the Royal Academy of Music with Felix Schmidt.
I have performed at most major UK concert halls as a member of the Royal Academy Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Proms Youth Ensemble, the National Youth Orchestra and the National Childrens’ Orchestras. In 2019 I was also invited to play in the LacMus Festival Orchestra on Lake Como. I am also a passionate chamber musician and perform with my piano trio, Torridon Trio, around the UK most recently performing at the Wigmore Hall. I enjoy solo performance and have performed Elgar, Dvorak and Tchaikovsky concertos with various orchestras in the UK.

I have had experience in private teaching on a one to one basis with levels ranging from grades 1-6. I have prepared students for school music scholarship exams. I have also given chamber music coaching at a music course 'Cello Dynamo'. Furthermore I have participated in Outreach schemes where I have been involved leading workshops with small groups of school children. Outside of cello teaching, I have worked as a member of the social staff team for the National Children's Orchestras.
