I am extremely passionate about sharing the joy of music with others and bring a personable, supportive and motivational approach to teaching. I strongly believe that being a versatile teacher is the key to successful learning and always value each student as an individual. I love the variety that being a flute teacher provides and enjoy cultivating individual musical styles.

I have over 6 yearsí experience teaching the flute and recorder both privately and as a peripatetic teacher in primary and secondary schools. I am confident in teaching all ages and standards and helping students work towards goals that challenge and motivate them. I have learnt to adapt to the different skills and abilities of students and to provide lessons tailored to their specific interests. One of the things that I enjoy most about teaching is being able to nurture another musicianís talent and build their creativity, confidence, perseverance and most of all, their love of music.

I am confident in preparing students for ABRSM and Trinity exams and all of my students have received Distinction or Merit results. However, I also understand that formal examinations donít suit everyone and enjoy helping students work towards other goals that arenít professionally examined.

I graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with Distinction on the Master of Arts in Performance programme, the honorary DipRAM (for an outstanding Final Recital) and the Irene Burcher Award for the highest mark in a woodwind final recital. I now balance a successful teaching career alongside freelancing with some of the UKís leading orchestras, including the Philharmonia, English Symphony and Hallé Orchestras, as well as London Mozart Players. Recent engagements include European and UK tours with the Philharmonia Orchestra, a live recording release of Tchaikovskyís Swan Lake for Signum Records, also with the Philharmonia, and a tour to Russia with the innovative Shadwell Opera. I believe that my training and experience have given me a well-rounded and extensive understanding of the music world that can inspire students of all ages.

I truly believe that learning an instrument should first and foremost be fun! I strive to make every bit of the learning process enjoyable whilst also working towards goals to provide a sense of achievement. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions and thank you for taking the time to read my page.
