Contralto, Elizabeth grew up in Malvern in the house overlooking the grave of Sir Edward Elgar whose influence in her musical life extended further with her first Music Teacher being the Great Niece of Sir Edward.
Elizabeth studied with internationally renowned Heldentenor John Mitchinson and Pamela Cook MBE at the Birmingham Conservatoire graduating with a GBSM in Singing Performance & Teaching. She later studied in London with Jennifer Dakin, working also with accompanists Roger Vignoles & Philip Thomas; she occasionally works with John Treleaven.
Elizabeth is a Classically trained Singer, specialising in Opera, Classical Song & Oratorio, however her teaching style embraces wider musical genres, including Music Theatre, Rock and pop.
Having lived and worked in London (Royal Opera House) and Oman ( Private voice tutor and coach for British School Muscat, American British Academy and The American International School Muscat) before moving to Cornwall, Elizabeth has gained a wealth of Invaluable experience.
She also ran choral workshops and vocal workshops for choirs & for the casts of School Musical/Drama Productions. Further more she organised and performed in concerts, recitals, Arts Events and soirees; also arranging concerts including one with the American Ambassador for local Charity “Dar al Hanan”, a notable Omani Cancer Charity.
She nurtured musical affiliations with tutors from the Royal Omani Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Oman Police.
Having returned to the UK in 2014, Elizabeth has established herself as a Private Singing Tutor to people of all ages & abilities, a Choral Workshop Leader. She has nurtured connections with local Choral Groups & the Music and Drama department from Falmouth University, offering private singing tuition to a number of Drama, Music and Pop music students from the University.
She continues to offer Private Lessons and Workshops under her newly established umbrella initiative - ”Kirklands Music”. She has been described by pupils as being “Inspirational & Professional”.
She has Performed Nationwide in venues including the Linbury Studio Theatre & Crush Room at the Royal Opera House London, The Swan Theatre Worcester, Theatr Hafren in Mid Wales, in many UK Cathedrals, Churches, Civic buildings and Theatres.
Internationally she has performed in Switzerland, Oman & Ireland.
Her repertoire includes many of the Contralto Solos in Major Choral Works & Oratorios as well as Lieder, English Song, Chanson, Opera including Wagner, Britten and G&S, and Original Compositions, working closely with South African composer Rico Gerber, having given World & UK premieres of some of his songs and Folk Song arrangements.
Throughout her career she has worked tirelessly organising and partaking in Charity Concerts, and has raised many thousands, here and abroad for numerous charities.
Elizabeth also guests as a Soloist at events social functions, including singing for English Heritage at Pendennis castle, celebrity Memorial Services for Frank Finlay, Danny La Rue, Sir Alec Guiness, John Normington and Michael Williams.
She has recently been appointed as Musical Director of Mabe Ladies Choir in Falmouth and runs a dedicated vocal group “Ensemble” who have performed at Little Malvern Priory and at ‘Nadelik Lowen’ for English Heritage at Pendennis Castle.
