Biography

Shane Underwood is essentially a Bassoonist but he is also an accomplished Contrabassoonist, Violinist and Clarinettist.<br />
<br />
An experienced orchestral player, Shane has performed at many venues in Great Britain, including Symphony Hall Birmingham, Blackheath Halls, at the Royal Academy of Music and at the Royal Albert Hall. <br />
<br />
Following studying as a Barbara Allen Scholar at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance he joined the Royal Air Force Music Services as a bassoonist with the Band of the Royal Air Force College.<br />
<br />
Notable performances include performances for Prince's Edward and Andrew celebration concerts for the Centenary of the Royal Air Force and tours to Cyprus and Switzerland amounts others.<br />
He also makes and supplies quality bassoon reeds.<br />
<br />
Prior to beginning his BMus (Hons) degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music, Shane began his music training at the Royal Northern College of Music Junior department studying with Steve Magee, after being encouraged to apply by Alan Pendlebury and Simon Durnford. <br />
<br />
The National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain followed under the direction of Graeme Adams, Peter Harrison and Simon De Souza. <br />
<br />
Chamber ensembles include ‘Belles n Crookes’ - Bassoon Octet, 'Sirocco Quintet' - Wind Ensemble and String Trio 'Divine Strings'.<br />
<br />
He has performed in a ‘Last Night of the Proms’ open air concert to over 10,000 people and has toured France with a youth wind orchestra.<br />
