GCSE and A'level Music coaching
Genre/Style(s): I have a friendly, flexible approach to teaching and I work with my students to tailor lessons to their interests and aims.

Music making should be fun, and I am for my students to enjoy their lessons (even when things get a bit more challenging). My students and parents have told me that I explain things clearly and am patient, though firm when I need to be!

I prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity-Guildhall grade exams. I also have a number of students who learn for fun.

Several of my students have progressed through grades and moved on to study at university and conservatoire. Some have gained scholarships for further study.

I tailor lessons to the interest of the student and I have students learning classical as well as others who prefer popular and folk music.

I teach all levels from beginner to post-grade 8.

My students are a range of ages. Currently my youngest is 6 and oldest is in their 50s.

Research has shown that learning a musical instrument develops co-ordination, listening skills, attention to detail and concentration, and has a range of additional benefits. This is something I keep in mind when teaching.

I have more than 25 years of teaching and professional playing experience (please see Biography section).
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

You will need your own instrument (or access to one), and to purchase your own music.

I can advise on buying a violin/viola if necessary, and occasionally have a beginner instrument for sale, or know someone who’s selling one.

Lessons take place in my music room at home in CV4. My home is on bus route 18 from Coventry and 5-10 minutes’ walk from Tile Hill railway station.

I have limited capacity for local home tuition, but this may be possible so please ask.

I am very happy for parents to attend lessons, especially with younger children, who may need a bit of extra support from Mum or Dad.

Note 17.11.18 ..... I have no vacancies this side of Christmas, but I will have spaces from January 2019.
