Notes:
I am a fully qualified teacher and graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, with many years’ instrumental teaching and performing experience.
I teach violin and viola from beginner to diploma level - all ages, levels and abilities are welcome.
If desired and appropriate to do so, I can enter pupils for graded examinations - I have a 100% pass rate.
Lessons at my home in Tonbridge are one-to-one and take place after school for children or during the day/evening for adults. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend their child’s lesson in order to support learning at home.
In addition to teaching violin and viola, I teach all theory grades.
In addition to working as an upper strings teacher, I have also held two teaching posts at secondary schools, one of which was Head of Music. I have also taught primary school classroom music, including Wider Access whole-class violin projects.
I have many years’ experience directing violin ensembles, string orchestras, choirs and chamber music coaching.
I am a patient, engaging, sympathetic teacher with strong subject knowledge. I set achievable goals and have high expectations of all my students. I teach skills which will enable my pupils to learn independently. Lessons are thoughtfully planned and personalised to meet the needs of my pupils.
I am DBS checked and have successfully completed the NSPCC Child Protection Awareness Programme.
