Notes:
Since graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2004 I have been entering pupils for exams and concerts and leading workshops for over 15 years, both at a local school and national level. I am a big advocate of encouraging the students to create their own music, and to engage in as many performance opportunities as possible.
I am hard working, highly organised passionate and dedicated to showing young people the joys of playing the drum kit, marimba, xylophone and vibraphone and other percussion instruments. I believe that teaching should be fun and informative, and I try to really work out what makes my students tick, so that I can get the absolute maximum out of them and also give them the maximum from myself. I can teach virtually any genre of music, as I have a vast amount of experience as a classical and rock/pop/jazz musician, and I am also up to speed with the latest music software, including loop stations, ableton live, logic X and sample pads. I have also performed across the world as a session musician, from Australia to Uruguay, and you can see the artists that I have performed with on my CV.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020, I have been teaching 25 drum kit and percussion pupils weekly online, using Zoom and Microsoft Teams and I am confident and well-practiced in teaching pupils online if this is a more convenient option.
