“It’s never too late to learn” as the saying goes, and it’s true!

I can’t tell you how many times someone’s come up to me after a gig (and even during) and told me that they used to play or wanted to be a singer. Work, time, kids and just life, gets in the way... I get that!

With just a few lessons and some regular practice, you’ll be able to sing more in tune, have more control over your vocal range, and create a better sound, giving you the confidence to sing anywhere with anyone.

This is what people say when they contact me:

‘I don’t think I’m breathing properly’ ‘I need to sing backing vocals for a band I’m in, and can’t sing in tune’ ‘I’m a classically trained singer, but would like to learn how to sing in a Jazz style want to learn how to sing higher’ ‘I lack confidence when I have to perform in front of other people’ I’ve always wanted to sing, but never had the courage’ ‘I want to learn how to sing in my mixed voice’ ‘I want to create more resonance when I sing and speak’ ‘I sing in my chest voice. How do I sing using my head voice’ ‘It feels tight when I sing and sometimes speak’ ‘I’d like a better singing technique to help me not feel like I’m pushing and using effort’

My specialities are vocal technique, performance, stylistic awareness, musicianship (theory and awareness) and Jazz improvisation.

This is what a few people say after we've worked together:

"Just a massive thanks for the audition wouldn’t have gone as well if it wasn’t for all your help and advice, and I wouldn’t have felt prepared at all without your lessons! Thanks so much, Jimmy! You’re awesome !"
Amy Hollingsworth - Guildhall School of Music and Drama

“My voice was often strained at the end of a full day of speaking, but I had four full days to speak and wondered if my voice would cope but Jimmy sorted it out. He gave me a set of warm-up exercises to do day and night and before each performance and showed me how to use more head resonance to take the load of my throat and vocal cords.
I couldn’t believe it at the end of the fourth day when my throat was still relaxed and not strained at all. Jimmy’s coaching made a huge difference to these events and every other one going forward.
If you’re serious about making the best use of your voice for speaking or singing, I’d recommend Jimmy every time.” Bob Fergusson Speaker Coach

“Jimmy is a great vocal teacher. He tailors his lessons to my specific needs, which allows me to grow very quickly. He creates a relaxed lesson environment, which also helps, as I’m naturally shy. I feel he’s very experienced and effective. I’ve been getting great results from the beginning and can see myself under his tuition for years to come.” Vinnie Minotto - Brazil

"I enjoyed my lessons with Jimmy Cannon a lot thanks to his ability to make me understand what part of the body to use, how to hit notes with the right amount of breath and find the possible timbres with different positioning and shapes of mouth.
All of that with the useful tips on how to do it healthily to be able to sing as often as needed without straining the voice."
Timothy Houle - ICMP
