I use traditional vocal techniques and my extensive experience as an International performer as the basis for my teaching complimented by a fusion of contemporary vocal methods incorporating such styles as Pop, Jazz, Soul and Folk.

“It’s never too late to learn” as the saying goes, and it’s true!

I can’t tell you how many times someone’s come up to me after a gig (and even during) and told me that they used to play or wanted to be a singer.. Work, time, kids and just life, gets in the way... I get that!

With just a few lessons and some regular practice, you’ll be able to sing more in tune, have more control over your vocal range, and create a better sound, giving you the confidence to sing anywhere with anyone.

This is what people say when they contact me:

‘I don’t think I’m breathing properly’ ‘I need to sing backing vocals for a band I’m in, and can’t sing in tune’ ‘I’m a classically trained singer, but would like to learn how to sing in a Jazz style’‘I want to learn how to sing higher’ ‘I lack confidence when I have to perform in front of other people’ I’ve always wanted to sing, but never had the courage’ ‘I want to learn how to sing in my mixed voice’ ‘I want to create more resonance when I sing and speak’ ‘I sing in my chest voice. How do I sing using my head voice’ ‘It feels tight when I sing and sometimes speak’ ‘I’d like a better singing technique to help me not feel like I’m pushing and using effort’

My specialities are vocal technique, performance, stylistic awareness, musicianship and improvisation.

For the past 10 years I’ve had the pleasure to teach vocal and performance techniques to students from all over the world, helping them to achieve their goals whether it be their first public performance, improving their range, how to ‘belt’, or preparing for ‘X Factor’ auditions.

"Since obtaining a PGDip in from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and awarded the Archers Scholarship in 2002, Jimmy studied Bel canto with Colin Baldy (New College Oxford), and uses this traditional vocal technique as the foundation for his performance and teaching, later studying with Kevin Burke (John Hendriks) in New York.

Jimmy has toured and recorded with Sir Tom Jones, The Commitments, Rodriguez, Maroon Town, Roger Taylor, Mbawula, and has appeared exclusively on TV’s ‘The One Show’ and ‘This Morning’."
