Mr Patrick Johnson

Patrick started his professional career when he graduated from Music College in 2007. As a guitar player and composer he performed his own music regularly at many established Jazz clubs in and around London, and the success of an EP gained him features on BBC radio nationwide as well as subsequent slots at esteemed festivals such as Brecon Jazz Festival and Oxford Jazz Fest. During this period he also began working at an independent record label where he arranged and recorded acts and musicians; giving him a valuable insight into the craft of production, whilst also performing in collaboration with an ever expanding network of gifted artists.

He continued his career working as a session musician and guitar player for some of the biggest producers/composers in the industry, and inevitably became part of the music team at Annix in Pinewood studios. Since then he has written, arranged, and recorded for television, film and advertising.

As well as working with Friday Street, Patrick is currently recording his own solo album, and awaits the impending release of album, Circle which he has co-produced and written with Friday Street co-founder, Ricky Jones under the pseudonym Double Vicious. Both albums will be available under the Friday Street catalogue.

Other projects include working for independent record label Ear Candy Music in the studio, as an occasional artistic director, and seeking suitable acts for them. He also works for the Charity "East Berkshire Mind" teaching music, and is available for private tuition. .. .. His influences include Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays, George Benson, Joni Mitchell, Frank Zappa, Maurice Ravel, Keith Jarrett, and Jaco Pastorius. In his early years he was heavily influenced by the live performances of Joe Zawinul at Ronnie Scotts, and John Surman, Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor, Ralph Towner, and by his father Ronnie Johnson and First Light. .. .. Patrick performs usually with his quartet or as a duo with his father Ronnie Johnson. .. .. (Elaine Williams - Small Planet Music/Brecon Jazz Festival)
