I am a professional horn player, working in London with various orchestras such as the BBC Symphony and Royal Opera House, and have been 2nd horn in the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment since 1995.
Teaching has always been part of my career, including a stint at Watford School of Music and frequent coaching at the London conservatoires. I also teach privately from beginner up to grade 8 and for college entrance. I don't teach other brass instruments - just French horn, including speciality instruments such as natural horn, Vienna horn and hunting horn.
I have a lively and enthusiastic teaching style, but also bring the rigour and tricks of the trade that professional experience gives. I tailor my teaching to the student's interests, needs and aims.

As a performance coach I help musicians of all types with various issues including physical, mental and creative problems, and have a particular interest in performance anxiety. I run an annual course - Free Your Playing - at Benslow Music, and have coached at Cambridge and Chichester universities, the Britten-Pears School and conservatoires in London and Manchester. I am interested in taking seriously the things we don't intend, which is often productive and fun. I am happy to coach individuals and groups.

I am based in Woking but can travel nationally for group coaching or locally for several horn students in one area.
