I am in upper sixth form at the Blue Coat School currently studying maths, chemistry and music, with an offer to study music at Oxford university next year. I have played violin since the age of eight and once reaching grade 8 I took up the viola, passing grade 6 in six months with distinction and I was subsequently awarded an ABRSM Gold award for achieving one of the highest marks in grade 6 that year. I have always enjoyed playing in orchestras, leading the Liverpool Youth Orchestra for several years, and I am currently principal viola of the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. On many occasions I have performed with musicians from the National Youth Orchestra in their Inspires ensembles and I also enjoy performing in string quartets. I would be very willing to offer words of advice and tutoring to violists/violinists who are working towards a grade or other important event, or lessons to help work on technique. When tutoring I believe that it is important to always focus on improving; whether in terms of tone production, intonation, or other technical issues contributing to these. I also strive to help develop confidence as a performer which is crucial to good solo performance but also helps with orchestral playing.
