Ruta's musical interests are widely varied while working in the field of classical composition and receiving her PhD at Royal Academy of Music in London, Ruta has also developed deep interest in music education. She worked in Learning department of Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, received fellowship Open Academy at the Royal Academy of Music, worked with people living with dementia through Westminster Arts, is regularly invited tutor at the Composers+ Summer Academy in Lithuania. Currently, large part of her work is research on delivering music as an experience through work with communities: compositional and vocal workshop.

Ruta has also been active initiator of music events (music visualization, acoustic surround, music personalization), organizer (director of Druskomanija festival and workshop series the Process in Lithuania, facilitator of New Music Incubator in Nordic countries and across EU), performer (violin, piano, voice, electronics) and instrumental teacher (Hendon Prep, Thomson House schools, Richmond Music Trust and Music House for Children in London).

Ruta continues to actively work in the field of classical composition, and recently received Nail of the Year award for her piece Ashraga for symphony orchestra and accordion, and Golden Stage Cross for her collaborative opera Confessions.
