I completed four years of intensive study in cello performance at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester developing and gaining experience in teaching whilst I was there. I am not only passionate about classical music but also Scottish music. I believe that everyone can benefit from playing music at any stage of their life and am dedicated to generating a positive, creative and supportive environment to learn in. I welcome all abilities and ages and have an up to date CRB.
I deputised for an experienced private cello teacher and I was also employed by Manchester City Music Service (now known as One Education) where I taught weekly in a primary school and at Manchester Youth String Orchestra. RNCM has a teaching programme called ‘Music Education in the Community’ which I studied for two years. In March 2013 I took part on the competitive work experience scheme with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s ‘In Harmony’ project which mirrors the world renowned Venezuelan ‘El Sistema’ project. In September 2013 I will be joining NYOS Camerata to perform and teach alongside Sistema Scotland. I began teaching when I was 14 and I have experience teaching children with autism. I am continuing my studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for a further two years on the Masters of Music performance programme.
