An experienced teacher from beginner to advanced levels, current and past students aged 6-40, able to teach in both English and Mandarin Chinese. Very familiar with requirements of ABRSM exams of all levels.

I've taught in London for over 5 years. In over five years of teaching in London, I have developed particular experience in helping children and teenagers fix technical issues, thus improving their playing significantly. These students go on to enjoy music making even more and take pride in their personal progress!

All my current and past students achieved distinctions or merits on their ABRSM grades 1-8 exams. I have experience with teaching Diploma level as well (DipABRSM). I have also mentored students at college level on practice methods, pedal technique, harmony, programme notes writing, and essays. My students have a 100% success rate with any ABRSM exam, whether it be piano or theory. Several achieved distinctions on their theory exams. I am patient, serious, responsible. I can be strict if necessary and also encouraging especially for younger learners. I am professional, punctual and plan well. I keep a notebook for each student to take home that will help them practise effectively. This helps them keep track of their personal progress and serves as an effective reminder of lesson points.

I develop each student`s learning material based on their requirements and wishes, and am flexible in my teaching style and communication methods. For those whose parents wish to be more directly involved in their child`s learning, I am ok with them sitting in during lessons so long as it is not disruptive. I regularly update parents who wish to keep up with their child`s progress. I also welcome parents to ask me questions relevant to their child`s progress or aims. I find that for young children in particular, it is a great arrangement for teacher, parent and student to communicate effectively with each other, establishing mutual trust. These little things help the student learn effectively in a relaxed manner.
