Helen fell in love with singing as a teenager when she was a member of the international award- winning choir Cantores Novae. She read music at the University of Hull where she received the Andrew Brown Memorial Prize for Music. Shortly afterwards she won the recital prize at the Mrs Sunderland Festival as well as numerous other singing prizes. In 2008 Helen moved to Cardiff to pursue a Masterís degree in vocal studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where she was a choral scholar with the BBC National Chorus of Wales. Helen's masterís thesis was titled 'Approaches to teaching sight-reading to dyslexic music students' reflecting her interest in teaching and neuro-diversity.
Helen has sung with some of the UKís leading choirs and continues to appear as a soloist in recital and opera.
Helen has been dedicated to teaching singing since she graduated from university and has taught singing in primary, secondary and further education schools in South Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Surrey, Hampshire and Milton Keynes. She currently teaches from her private practice in Northamptonshire. She continues to engage in professional development, particularly through the Incorporated Society of Musicians and the Association of Teachers of singing.
