Biography

Ami Lodge has been teaching both for Surrey Arts and privately since she graduated from Royal Holloway University of London with an undergraduate degree in Music with German in 2008. She is now flute specialist for the North West region at Surrey Arts as well as being employed by Greenfield Preparatory School and All Hallows Catholic School and has received teacher training from the acclaimed music educators and composers Paul Harris and Sarah Watts.

Ami is also an active performer, freelancing amongst various orchestras in London, as well as in operatic productions with small opera companies. Earlier this year she took part in the Britten-Pears Orchestra course conducted by Marin Alsop, culminating in a performance at the Royal Festival Hall. She also gives recitals both as a soloist and with her flute quartet ‘Incanto Flutes’. Ami completed her Masters studies in Performance at Trinity Laban College of Music and Dance under the instruction of the Royal Opera House principal Margaret Campbell, where she was a winner of the Harold Clark Woodwind Soloists competition in May 2015 and also received the Michael Hirst award for Trinity flautists in 2016 for her orchestral contributions. During her studies, she was fortunate to play to world-class flautists such as Emily Beynon and Jonathan Snowden and perform alongside players from the Philharmonia Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Welsh National Opera in the Trinity Laban Symphony Orchestra side-by-side schemes.
