Mr Ben Beer

Ben began his musical training as a chorister at St John's College, Cambridge, where he was lucky enough to tour internationally several times a year. He was a soloist on several recordings for Decca and Chandos, as well as on TV and radio broadcasts in the UK and abroad. These formative years brought a huge amount of musical experience within a world-renowned choir.

He spent a year at the regional Conservatoire National in Montpellier, France.

In 2001, his guitar band signed to Fierce Panda Records, releasing a single that made the Radio 1 and MTV Europe playlists. The band toured the UK circuit extensively, with bands including Keane, Hard-Fi, Kaiser Chiefs and the Chameleons. After the band split, Ben decided to pursue other projects, and eventually signed as a solo artist to Twenty-First Artists. Under the name Sealife, he played several UK festivals and supported Sir Elton John at London's O2 Arena at his New Year's Eve show.

Now signed to Rocket Music Publishing, he concentrates mainly on song and commercial writing. He has written with several internationally-successful writers, including Ricky Ross (James Blunt) and James Bryan (Nelly Furtado, James Morrison). He is an occasional producer/mixer for independent bands and artists.

Ben is CRB-checked and has worked with several child and youth productions and music groups, teaches singing and piano, and accompanies for concerts and Associated Board exams. He has also written for the Trinity Guildhall music exam syllabus.
