Biography

I began learning piano at the age of five -- although that's quite a while ago now, it still feels fresh in my mind! My first teacher studied under legendary piano specialist Fanny Waterman, and I was subsequently taken through the upper grades and Advanced Certificate by professional concert pianist James Brawn, who is presently recording a spectacular series of Beethoven piano sonata albums.

I picked up clarinet and saxophone at school and found them both to be eminently sociable instruments, ideal for joining groups and having fun together with other musicians. Over the years, I've continued to love these instruments for this reason: I've performed in the pit band for the Eastleigh pantomime on a number of occasions, and that's always been a highlight of my musical calendar.

I've been teaching since I was still a student myself. After studying English and Music at university, I went on to get a nationally recognised teaching qualification (the PGCE) and spent several years in both primary and secondary school classrooms -- a challenging experience, for sure, but a rewarding one!

Now, I'm looking to take on new private pupils for piano, clarinet, saxophone, theory and GCSE/A-Level exam support. Please get in touch if you'd like to be one of them!
